Tuesday: All work and play

                 
Today Micah woke up. Then later Sammy woke up. The time is now 7 (AKA) time to get up. I start the day where the beautiful Maryland sun shines brightly through my window, yet I ignore it and doomscroll on instagram for 20 minutes. It is now 7:20 and I get out of bed and get ready for breakfast at 8. We enjoyed a continental breakfast and it was very yummy. Jake said it was Yummers and Sammy just wants to go to bed. after being filled up we headed to off to our worksites, most of us went back to the garden to finish to what we started but some went to the playground. The garden has been radically transformed glistening in the hot spring sun. the stones have been placed in rows neatly arranged for viewing pleasure. Im going to let Sammy take it over right now to talk about the playground. 

                  
    Arriving at the playground we could immediately see a copious amount of weeds taking over the bottom of the playscape, the fencing, and swing set. The jolly ranchers were set to working this site and began pulling out the weeds and chopping up some of the bigger things with a weed whacker. After a lot of hard work in the sun, the playground finally looked neat again with crisp lines between dark mulch and the grass. Afterwards we took a much deserved break to go play a quick game of basketball on the court nearby. By this time it was about 12:00 so we took a break for lunch where we had a ah never-mind Micahs gonna take it from here...

Lunch was delicious i got seconds! it was chicken nuggets and tater tots and to quote bob "the chicky nuggets were sigma!" jake made fun bbq sauce. then we made a cool tiktok and it was super duper cute :). then we were given a list of things to do and we did ALL of it. i personally mulched the playground and dug a hole for a sign and poured concrete in said hole. let me ask sammy what he did. sammy says he moved a giant industrial stove with sean from a church basement. sean says that sammy is very strong and is indebted to him for his help. sammy then cleaned out the fire pit and detailed the vans. sammy says he had a great time and he feels super fulfilled. sammy will tell you about the rest of the day and ill come back for the nighttime activities.

    After the worksites we worked with the kids living at deeproots, playing games and building crafts with them. This ended with a heated basketball game involving teams made of a couple people from each group. Then we all washed up before dinner which was stir fry rice which was great and left everyone full. By this time the sun was starting to go down but it was still warm outside and surprisingly a few bugs were out. The advisors then surprised us with a campfire and s'mores where we had a fun time telling jokes and stories. But theres one more big part of the day that Micah would love to share... 

Never mind Sammy will take it home. Once were we back in the nice AC of the house we decided to do a tiktok dance to a famous baby keem song. This was a great team bonding time but afterwords everyone was pretty tired so we wrapped it up for the night. Now we finish it off with writing our blog. So we're off to bed now and excited for DC tomorrow!

Sunday Travel Day!!!

GOOD EVENING,  Today we met at church where we all loaded the vans with our luggage and got commissioned by the congregation, then we hit the road.  We stopped for lunch at McDonalds after about an hour and then stopped again to stretch our legs for a little bit. After Bob finally met up with us at the rest stop, we were pleasantly surprised when he gave us all our favorite snacks! Then we got back in our vans and listened to a shared playlist with all of our favorite songs and played fun games to pass the time.  We arrived at Deep Roots (surprisingly on time..) and were greeted by Jeremy and his son, Ryder. They then showed us around the property and told us some things that we will be working on this week. He also told us about his history here in Deep Roots and the residents. Monday First Work Day

 Good Evening Everyone!     Today was our first full work day. We woke up, and started our day hanging out in the common room together before breakfast. Breakfast was at 9:00; we had bacon, muffins, biscuits and eggs. After a DELICIOUS breakfast, we helped out in the kitchen (which was our team's assigned chore for the day). We washed dishes, cleaned tables, and took some nice action-shots of us doing the chores.  Once we finished the kitchen, we met up with the rest of the group and we were walked through our jobs for the day. Our group (I Am Root) was assigned to a back garden that needed a lot of trimming and weeding. Anthony assembled the weed-whacker for use and used it to trim over-grown brush in the garden area. We encountered a small issue where the weed-whacker's attachment head got stuck, but Ally fixed it for us, thankfully ("when in doubt, Ally helps out").
